I requested a payout at PTCBox! I put in my request for $2 before going to bed one night, and the next morning the full $2 (no fees) was in my PayPal account. So it appears that there are no fees for US members. Not sure if this applies to international members. Next I need to decide if I want to just save up for another payment, or if I want to buy an account upgrade. The smallest one is $5 for a “doubler”, which means my personal earnings will be doubled. Not a bad deal, considering I currently make about $0.10 a day there. It would only take 50 days to pay it off.

Have you noticed all the PTC and reward sites offering “Offers” lately? Swagbucks and ZoomBucks have had them for ages, and QuickRewards added them a few months ago. InboxDollars and MyPoints recently started doing videos from one source. Now NeoBux is joining the action. They appear to only be hosting offers from one media group (Supersonic Ads), versus Swagbucks or QuickRewards which host multiple groups. Because of that you won’t be able to look around much to see who’s paying the most for a particular offer, and there are a limited number/type of offers. NeoBux also seems to be paying less for their offers than any of the other sites I belong to. E.g., here’s a table comparing the rates for a typical offer video:

Site Reward Value in cents
NeoBux 7 NeoPoints 0.3-0.7
Swagbucks 1 Swag Buck 0.9-1.1
QuickRewards 100 QuickPoints 1
ZoomBucks 2 ZoomBucks 1.3-2
InboxDollars $0.02 2
MyPoints 3 Points 2-2.3

Fortunately, for now at least, the videos can be watched multiple times so you can watch them at each site. But bigger offers can only be done once, so I’d shop around for those. Swagbucks is definitely paying and has better rates, and QuickRewards is competitive with them. (Zoombucks seems to have some of the best rates, but I can’t vouch for them yet as I haven’t reached payout there.)

I love how these offer walls are popping up everywhere! I hope a few more PTCs add them (hint hint, nudge nudge, ClixSense.) I’m still a little peeved at all the changes at NeoBux and this doesn’t magically erase that, but finally they’ve done something I can’t really complain about. By the way, the NeoBux offer page is still in beta mode, and you have to access it through the forum post about it.

The latest NeoBux change has gone into effect, and I have to say I’m underwhelmed. Basically for every ad you click you get an additional 2-16 jackpot-like ads – “AdPrizes” – to view. There is no guarantee that you’ll get paid to view these ads, just a chance at winning a list of prizes. I clicked every one I came across for the first few days, racking up about 500 extra ads viewed, and won a whopping 10 NeoPoints. So one whole penny (making the rather generous assumption that I cash the points in at 20,000 = $20) for 500 ads. Advertisers must be loving this, but as a member it’s a complete waste of my time. I’ve stopped clicking them, and will try again in a month or so when all the excitement has died down some. Maybe the odds will go up with fewer people clicking. In the meantime I have better things to spend my time doing. Heck, I could make that much money going down the hallway and turning off a light!

The one good thing I can say about these new jackpot ads is that they’re on top of what you were getting before. The admin didn’t lower ad values or raise ad prices to pay for this. In effect advertisers have been paying for this all along.

Still plugging along at PTCBox (where earnings have been slow this last week) and UniqueRewards (another ~$4 this week in PTCs alone). I’m within shooting distance of my payout goals at both.

After instituting a series of pretty unpopular changes last year (see my NeoBux Review for more info), NeoBux appears poised for another overhaul. There’s a message from the admin to that effect on the forum, though it provides no details. There’s also what appears to be a countdown in the lower right corner of the site. It started at “3″ two days ago and now says “1″. The site has also been experiencing a lot of downtime today. So is tomorrow the day? And will this overhaul be better than the last one? We’ll see… To be honest I’m a little nervous. I feel like the site is barely worth my time as it is right now, even when I rent refs with NeoPoints. Even with three “free” (paid for with NeoPoints) rented refs I’ve only made $1.10 this month. I’m hoping the new changes will make it more profitable for standard members again, but I’m a little skeptical.

In my last post I talked about UniqueRewards, Zoombucks, and PTCBox, and promised to do an update on my earnings. Well, UniqueRewards is blowing all the other PTCs I belong to out of the water. I’ve earned $5.96 there in the first two weeks of January (and today isn’t even over yet)! I haven’t ever been paid by them though, so stay tuned. The minimum for payout is $20 which I should get to soon.

Zoombucks on the other hand is more slowly racking up some money for me. On average I’ve been earning just over 15 Zoombucks (ZBucks) daily, which is worth $0.15 when you purchase gift cards there. Most of the gift cards (including Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and Sears) are 1000 ZBucks for $10. A few others are more, like $10 at Target for 1200 ZBucks, or $5 at PayPal for 650 ZBucks. Overall the site isn’t bad, but it’s not laid out nearly as cleanly as Swagbucks, nor are the earnings anywhere near as high. In the two weeks that it’s taken me to earn 211 ZBucks I’ve earned 1412 Swagbucks (SBs). To boot, the conversion for Amazon gift cards (my preferred cash out method) at Swagbucks is a bit better, at 450 SBs for a $5 card. But still, even though the earnings don’t compare to Swagbucks I’m not going to say “no” to a few extra bucks each month. The 15 per day don’t take me much time, so it’s worth it. I’m also still new to the site so I’m probably missing some opportunities. This is another program where I’ve yet to reach payout however, so I can’t fully recommend it yet.

As for PTCBox, in the 13 days I’ve been a member I’ve earned $1.15 just clicking links, so roughly $0.09 per day. The last few days have been more like $0.12-$0.15 per day, so I think it’s picking up. Compared to NeoBux or even WordLinx these days (I’ve earned $1.25 there in January, and that’s with the upgrade), that’s pretty decent. I’ve reached the current $1 minimum for payout but I’d like to wait until I have $2. I’m not clear on whether there will be PayPal fees, so I’d like to have a slightly larger balance just in case. If there are fees, in the future I’ll wait until I have $10 or so. I’ll be sure to make a post about it once I find out!

If you’re looking for a way to make a few extra pennies from a very reputable company, you might be interested in Bing Rewards. Bing (the search site owned by Microsoft) has had a Rewards program for a couple years now. It was supposed to end several times but it keeps getting extended. You can only earn roughly 13 points per day (worth about $0.12-$0.13 when cashed out for Amazon GCs), but it’s something. And you know they’re good for it! I’ve been paid $15 by them over the last six months.

With a new year come new sites to join. I lost a couple accounts last year for inactivity (I had another baby and was a tiny bit busy!) To make up for those I’ve decided to try a couple new sites out, and I will let you know how it goes.

The first is Zoombucks, which has mixed reviews at the moment. After having such great success at Swagbucks (I made $110 there in the last three months of 2011 alone) I decided to check out one of the other search and win sites. I read up on a couple and settled on Zoombucks. Already I can see that the earnings will be way lower than Swagbucks, but we’ll see how it goes.

The second site I joined is a brand new one called PTCBox. It’s run by the same people who run MatrixMails, which has been online and paying for around a decade now. (I don’t happen to belong to that one yet.) With that kind of background I figured it was probably a safe bet. I don’t usually join sites when they’re brand new like this.

On top of those my goal this year is to be more active in a few sites that I joined last year but didn’t really have time to fully explore. One of those is UniqueRewards. I was turned off by the sign-up for that site – they try to get you to sign up for offers during the actual sign-up process, which irks me and struck me as very unprofessional – so I kind of joined then ignored the site for a while. When I did finally log in and check it out I noticed the PTC earnings were very high, so I intend to make the most of it this year! Already today and yesterday I’ve made $0.81 just clicking links there. Not bad at all.

Here’s to a very profitable year for all of us!

I recently took advantage of Domain Transfer Day and transferred my Jenn’s Reviews domain away from GoDaddy. While I was at it I also got some real hosting at iPage.com (I had been using GoDaddy’s free hosting, which didn’t give me many options) which means I can now have a blog! This blog will be replacing my old “News” page on the site, which I was horrible at updating. It was such a hassle to put up an article using that method, while a blog will be much simpler. Hopefully that means more posts from me in the coming year.

If you want to access the old news articles, you can follow this link. I won’t be updating that page in the future, so be sure to check here for any new info.
