Updates to this site; Bang the Links is paying; BuxWiz and TuiBux are alive again
July 17, 2009 I added some more info to the Glossary page, including a section about the new PayPal fees. Their new terms are a bit confusing, so I cobbled together all the info I've been able to get and put it there. The new Bang the Links owner is finally making some decent headway on payouts. I haven't been paid yet - and I won't move the site back into my recommended list until I can personally confirm payouts are occurring - but the Been Paid list is ever-growing. She also has some sales going on, and has put Affiliate and Personal PTC pages onto the site. I noticed yesterday that the points have been reworked though, so that they're worth 1/10 what they used to be. BuxWiz is back online - again. They're saying this last outage was because of a DDoS attack - which basically is when a bunch of people repeatedly access the site attempting to lock it up and bring the server/site down - combined with an attempted hacking of their database. (For more on what a DDoS attack is, I found this great Wikipedia article.) They're now purchasing an SSL certificate, which I'm not clear on why they didn't have in the first place. Honestly at this point I'll be happy if the site stays up for a week straight. They're either having terrible luck or suffering from terrible management, and I can't imagine either is going to turn around quickly.
TuiBux also apparently had a short downtime yesterday, due to moving to a more secure server. Odd that they would choose now - right after the launch - to move their server over. It was a short-lived outage however, and supposedly won't happen again.
