Hello Again!
Oct 25, 2010

Sites have been dying left and right this year, victims of the economy like so many of us have been. Several of the sites I belonged to have shut their doors, a few more are planning on it, and at least two more are on their last legs. Here's the round-up:

Dead: Both All my Money for You (owned by Claudi) and Speed Earner (owned by Andrea) closed up shop this summer, after paying everyone their balances. KittenMails just disappeared one day, and there has been no news from the admin regarding payouts or anything else.

The owner (Vicki) of Lady of the Links and Deep-C Links has been having severe financial troubles since her husband passed away last year, and has announced that she will be closing both sites after full payouts have been made. I'm sad to see these go, and even sadder to see what Vicki has been going through.

The owner (Esperanza) of E-Qoo2 and Our-PTR2 is at least six months behind on payments and has been silent for months. No one's quite sure what's going on with her, but I for one am clinging to the belief that she'll pull through for her members in the end. She ran her sites quite well for a number of years, so I hope she goes out the same.

I've also joined quite a few new sites lately, including another Bux site. Bux sites are notorious for running for a few months then running away. We'll see if this one lasts. So far it's got good press, and has several hopeful things going for it, but as usual I won't be putting any of my own money into the site. If you're interested, it's OnBux. I also joined My-PTR, after having good experiences with the owner (Heather) over at Old Amsterdam Post.

I've also recently started working on Amazon's Mechanical Turk. It's an interesting program and a way to make a decent amount of money, but you have to be very careful. There are quite a few crooks who will use your work but reject you for it, meaning that they don't have to pay you and your "score" goes down. Be sure to check out a board like Turker Nation and the Firefox add-on TurkOpticon if you want to get involed with mTurk.

It's been a pretty good year for me, despite all the sites going down in dust. I hope to finish the year out with some extra money for the holidays, and I wish the same for you!
